Free for life, for UAE nationals, and Emirates Islamic states these rates per dirham rather than per dollar: 3.75 EI SmartMiles on anything bought in another currency, 2.50 on dirham spending, 1 at supermarkets, 0.31 at fast food, 0.18 on insurance and car dealerships, and 0.12 on education, fuel, real estate, government, utilities, telecoms and charity. The EEA and the UK drop to 0.33, which is a seventh of the international rate and easy to walk into. The bank's own headline — "up to 3.75% back in EI SmartMiles for every AED 1 spent" — is what prices a SmartMile at one fil, and that is the arithmetic used here. Worth knowing before you move any of them: the transfer table is far worse than spending them. 10,000 SmartMiles buys 1,000 Emirates Skywards Miles or 1,000 UPoints, 1,500 Etihad Guest Miles, 1,750 Avios or AirRewards, 2,500 Marriott Bonvoy points, and 7,500 buys 5,000 Etisalat Smiles. PayperWIZ will not tell you to make any of those transfers, and none of them is priced here. A welcome bonus of AED 1,000 cashback lands on AED 15,000 of spending within 60 days.
