Axis Select cashback rate, cap and annual fee

Axis Select pays 2% on supermarkets — on the first INR 20,000 you spend on it each month, which is where the INR 400 cap stops it. The card costs INR 3,000 a year.

A ₹3,000 card paying 1% on ordinary spending and 2% on what Axis calls Retail Shopping, which it defines precisely: department stores, grocery stores, and clothing and accessory stores. That doubled rate stops at ₹20,000 of such spending a month — one ceiling across the whole definition, not one per category, and because this app holds a ceiling per rule the two rules below carry ₹20,000 worth each and together imply twice what the card pays. The exclusion list is the longest of any Axis card here and it also governs the fee waiver: insurance, rent, fuel, education, utilities and telecom, wallet loads, gold and jewellery, government services, gift cards, bridge fees and road tolls earn nothing and count for nothing. So the ₹8 lakh of spending that clears the ₹3,000 fee has to be ₹8 lakh of the right kind. Free for Burgundy customers, and the fee returns if that status lapses.
