HDFC has stopped issuing this card; existing holders keep it, which is why it is still here. The 5% is real but the ceiling is the whole story: "Combined CashBack is capped at ₹150 per month for the mentioned categories" — one ₹150 ceiling across fuel, groceries, bill payments, recharges, IRCTC and PayZapp together, so the 5% is exhausted by ₹3,000 of spending across all of them. Rent, wallet loading and government payments earn nothing at all, and nor does anything outside the listed merchant codes. The separate "up to 10% via SmartBuy" is a ceiling rather than a rate and is not priced here. Cashback arrives as reward points at ₹1 each. Fee ₹500 to join and ₹500 a year.
