The headline rate applies only to a fixed list of partner merchants, not to online spend generally, a distinction that costs people money here, because the card is marketed as an online card. The list HDFC publishes is Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Sony LIV and Cult.fit. One source, not yet confirmed against a second, says the 1% base is itself capped at 1,000 CashPoints a cycle and that fuel, EMI, wallet loads, rent and government spend earn nothing at all: both would matter and neither is applied here until a second reading agrees.
