International transactionsNone—Anything bought in another currency earns no Air Miles at all, while still carrying the 2% markup.
Read the last line of its exclusion list before taking this abroad. Kotak charges 2% on foreign transactions, which is well under the 3.5% the rest of the market charges, and then earns nothing whatsoever on them — international spending is on the same list as rent and fuel. So every foreign purchase on this card costs 2% and returns nothing, on a card sold on travel. Domestically it is strong and simple: 2 Air Miles per ₹100 on everything eligible, 5 per ₹100 on flights and hotels booked through Kotak Unbox, and Kotak prices an Air Mile at ₹1 against exactly those bookings — so the headline rate really is 2%, which almost nothing else in this market pays on ordinary spending. The accelerated rate stops at 15,000 Air Miles a statement cycle and then falls back to the base rather than to nothing, which is the better of the two ways to end a cap. Nothing on utilities, telecom, insurance, education, government, rent, fuel, wallet loads, EMI, online gaming or cash advances. ₹3,000 to join and ₹3,000 a year, with no spend waiver published.
